Après avoir été témoin d'actes de violence, Mordechai tente de faciliter la fuite de ses étudiants en Palestine, mais il est arrêté et emprisonné. Il s'évade et retourne à Varsovie. Mais la ville est devenue méconnaissable. Un immense mur de pierre a été dressé, derrière lequel se trouve ce que l'on appelle le Ghetto de Varsovie. Révolté, Mordechai tente de s'opposer à l'oppression nazie et monte avec ses compatriotes un mouvement de résistance, le J.F.O (Jewish Fighting Organization). Il mobilise son meilleur ami Yitzhak Zuckerman et sa femme Zivia. Parmi ses recrues se trouve également Tosia Altman, une jeune fille capable de passer pour une aryenne aux yeux des Allemands.

Disgusted with Rainer, Mercedes ditches him and hooks up with Harry, a lonely and bored cab driver who agrees to help her find a buyer for the drugs so she can get some cash and go home. She offers Harry a deal he can't refuse. Is he just another pawn for Mercedes or will her promises help him achieve his hope and dreams? The story careens through the night streets of Vienna, following two amateurs navigating their way through the treacherous world of the drug trade. It's a mood piece with the backdrop of a stifling urban loneliness.

Jan 01, 1985Spielmann was born in Wels in 1961, grew up in Vienna, Austria. Starts writing and directing while still in school. His first film is aired on television in 1978. In 1980 he starts studying screenwriting and directing at the Vienna Film Academy. Two films completed during his studies (Abschied von Hölderlin & Vergiss Sneider! receive international prizes and are screened at the Stadtkino, an arthouse cinema in Vienna. Spielmann graduates in 1987.
