It is the night before Christmas and all through the decrepit school house nothing is stirring, not even a mouse. Well that is not exactly the truth, but what has happened in this weather beaten building in the barren Icelandic tundra is more akin to cruel fantasy than stark reality. A few days ago the participants of an experimental rehab clinic came there in order to cast out their inner demons, stay away from temptation and finally discover a little about their sober selves. That didn’t go quite according to plan, but they discovered Santa was real.

A group of friends goes on their annual salmon fishing trip to relax in the countryside. The newcomers in the group really try their hand at endurance and the tour goes quickly and safely into the sink out of new and old sins.

Dís, 23, is still to decide what to do with her life. Obsessed by the thought of being "abnormally normal", a mere photocopy of long lost original, she wanders from one odd job to another and tries out various cources at the University. A guiding light comes her way from an unexpected direction.

Two young friends, Lass and Sveppi, run a nightclub in downtown Reykjavik. They hire a beautiful young singer, Sól, who has just moved from the countryside to the city in order to take singing lessons. The boys make a bet which one will get the girl into bed first. As times goes on, Lass realises that he is in love with Sól and wants to give up the bet. Sveppi, on the other hand, has no interest in giving up the bet. To change this, the Sports-Elf arrives, and through his positive attitude, driving magnetism and by not taking no for an answer, he persuades the inhabitants to change their destructive lifestyle.
