While the commander of the British Army in Arabia, Major J. W. Courtney, is out in the desert chasing marauding tribesmen, his wife carries on an affair with Captain Randall. Courtney returns to the outpost ahead of time and the wife takes refuge in the quarters of Lieutenant W.B. Lawrence. Lawrence, maintaining the silence (and stiff upper lip) that his code of honor dictates is drummed out of the service. He joins the forces of El Rahman and becomes a sheik of the desert. Warfare, instigated by Randall, breaks out between the troops and the tribesmen and ends when the mortally wounded Randall confesses to his dastardly deeds, the least of which included making love to his commander's wife.

The Hawk has broken out of prison and the Sheriff and Sorrenson have a plan to have Whitlock pose as the Hawk, infiltrate the gang, and recover the stolen bonds. All goes well until The Chief who knows the real Hawk arrives.

In the 1840's Mexico has ceded California to the United States, making life nearly impossible for the Mexican population due to the influx of land and gold-crazy Americans. Farmer Joaquin Murrieta revenges the death of his wife against the four Americans who killed her and is branded an outlaw. The reward for his capture is increased as he subsequently kills the men who brutally murder his brother. Joining with bandit Three Fingered Jack, Murrieta raises an army of disaffected Mexicans and goes on a rampage against the Americans, finally forcing his erstwhile friend, Bill Warren, to lead a posse against him.

Le mélodrame victorien obtient un grand envoi dans cette production parodie de la vieille pièce "The Drunkard; or, The Fallen Saved". La pièce dans le film est l'ancienne où le méchant méchant Cribbs envisage de mettre ses griffes vigoureuses sur l'héroïne en conduisant son mari naïf à la ruine alcoolique. Heureusement, un conférencier en tempérance est sur place pour mettre les choses au clair, tout comme le grand Buster Keaton en tant qu'ami de l'ivrogne.

Deux prospecteurs, Mc Masters et Sand se rencontrent dans une ville économiquement florissante et s'associent dans la recherche de pétrole. Mc Masters se marie plus tard avec la fiancée de Sand, mais ce dernier est bon perdant. Un jour les deux amis jouent leur exploitation aux dés.

Mais ces derniers enlèvent Ann, la "femme aux cheveux d'or", et l'attachent pour l'offrir en sacrifice à King Kong.Au moment où ses compagnons arrivent pour la délivrer, un singe gigantesque saisit la jeune fille et disparaît dans la forêt. Denham et ses hommes se lancent alors à la poursuite de King Kong.
