Jeune, beau et arrogant, Griffin Mill est responsable de production dans l'une des grandes compagnies d'Hollywood. Griffin soupçonne un scénariste dépité, David Kahane, et lui donne rendez-vous. L'entretien tourne au pugilat. Kahane y laisse la vie. Griffin maquille son crime puis rend visite à la compagne du défunt, qu'il trouve à son goût et assez bien faite pour apaiser ses remords.
