Parallèlement à leur histoire, on trouve une métaphore d'un laissez-pour-compte dans une casse, qui s'efforce par tous les moyens de se débarrasser du chien qui s'attache à lui. À la fin, il attache des bâtons de dynamite au chien, mais ils se détachent et l'explosion les tue tous les deux.
