À Bogota, où il surveillait un trafiquant d’armes et de drogue, le capitaine Boulier de la DGSE, alias "Le Squale", est rappelé en France pour une nouvelle mission : coincer un trafiquant Colombien, le Colonel Augusto Zargas attendu à Paris, au consulat d'Autriche pour une négociation d'armes sous le manteau avec le consul Burger. La DGSE se doute d'une taupe au sein de l'Élysée qui aurait transmis au consul le dernier missile français. Il faut démasquer le traître. Le Squale parvient à infiltrer le consulat et à placer un micro dans la bague de leur interprète, Marie-Laurence Granianski. Mais Mme Granianski vient de demander trois jours de congés pour fêter son anniversaire de mariage. Le Squale doit torpiller le couple afin que ledit anniversaire n'ait plus lieu et que la Marie-Laurence reste travailler. L'opération est baptisée "Corned Beef". Mais comment l’empêcher de partir en vacances ?...
