On the island of Fourni in Ikaria, a researcher observes the lives of the inhabitants. Without a predetermined script, without ready-made questions, as a simple observer. Through this research, the society of Fourni comes to life before our eyes through its people, through memories, through anxieties, through daily toil. On the island, the men are sailors and the women have taken on all the jobs that one would more conventionally expect men to perform, from construction work to farm work. The camera of Alinda Dimitriou and Nikos Kanakis thus vividly records the relations between the two sexes and how the division of labor is a key cog in the functioning of the social machine.

The story of a talented yet self-destructive soccer player in Greece. Based on the novel of the same name by Menis Koumandareas, the film narrates the life and works of Vassilis Seretis, a young, unknown, poor, but talented and ambitious football player, who dreams of conquering the pitches. The hero is willing to give everything and suffer whatever it takes in order to conquer the football world. With his talent as his only weapon, he tries to define his destiny, on a route from Thessaloniki, to Volos and from there to Athens. With him, we taste the mud of the fields, the loneliness of the countryside, the "sold out" matches, but also the ephemeral glow of success. Pantelis Voulgaris signs a film that left an era, as, in addition to its original directorial perspective, it outlines the phenomenon of Greek football in a poetic and at the same time realistic way.

“Now I am happy, I am very well... I am cooking.” Six years after Jane Gabriel made the documentary “Island Οf Outcasts” revealing the inhuman conditions in the adult asylum on Leros, she returned to meet some of the men who had been kept naked in block 16 for decades, and women who had lived in filthy conditions. Now living freely with support in the community they talk about their new lives. This film records how Leros was transformed for both the ex-inmates and the staff - from being an island of incarceration and misery, into an island of liberty.

“This is their chance to have a life.” In 1992, 165 children were living in inhuman conditions in Leros. Those who had arrived as babies had never learned to walk, to dress, or to feed themselves. This documentary follows the young Greek medics who moved in to reform the asylum. They were astonished at the determination of the children, some of who had been chained to their beds for years, to improve their lives. A model ward was set up, and children were unchained. Within months some, like Andreas, were able to play games outside for the first time in their lives.

Contra la razon y por la fuerza
1
This Mexican documentary explores the meaning and aftermath of the brief Marxist interlude during which Salvador Allende governed Chile. It was the Mexican film crew's good fortune that the cameras they worked with bore the magical number "13," which identified them incorrectly as belonging to the state-run television under the new dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet. This mistaken identity enabled them to go places and interview people with great freedom, and they took complete advantage of it. The title of the documentary is a word-play satirizing the Chilean State Motto: Por la Razon or por la Fuerza (By Reason or By Force).
