The event had a four-fight main card with a broadcasting team of Gus Johnson, Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo.

In another heavyweight confrontation, Andrei "The Pitbull" Arlovski (15-7) will clash with Antonio "Big Foot" Silva (13-2).

Strikeforce World Grand Prix Quarter-Finals: Overeem vs. Werdum, also known as Strikeforce: Dallas, was a mixed martial arts event held by Strikeforce. EliteXC: Renegade was a mixed martial arts event promoted by EliteXC that took place on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. The main card aired live on Showtime.The main event featured a showdown between Nick Diaz and KJ Noons for the new EliteXC 160-pound Lightweight title. The card also featured the EliteXC debut of Internet brawler Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, as well as welterweight stand-out Jake Shields.

Strikeforce: Lawler vs. Shields was a mixed martial arts event held by the MMA organization Strikeforce. It was held in St. Louis, Missouri on June 6, 2009. The event drew an estimated 275,000 viewers on Showtime.

Bellator LXXI was an mixed martial arts event held by Bellator Fighting Championships. The event took place on June 22, 2012 at the Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack and Resort in Chester, West Virginia. The card was part of Bellator's annual Summer Series and featured the opening round fights in the Summer Series Light Heavyweight Tournament. EliteXC: Street Certified was a mixed martial arts event promoted by EliteXC scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the BankUnited Center in Miami, Florida. The main card aired live on Showtime at 10p.m. EST. The main event featured the return of Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson as he took on UFC veteran David "Tank" Abbott, a match originally scheduled for October 2007 in Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
