Paul Di'Anno

First part of the documentary series, The History Of Iron Maiden, featuring an exhaustive, thoroughly complete history of the early years of Iron Maiden, from their humble beginnings in London's East End in 1975 through their triumphant Piece Of Mind album and tour in 1983. The set features a large collection of rare videos and concert footage, as well as interviews with former members such as Paul Di'Anno, Clive Burr, Dennis Stratton, Dave Sullivan, Terry Rance, Kent Ewing, Doug Sampson, Ron Matthews, Terry Wapram and Bob Sawyer.

Recorded at the Ruskin Arms, Maiden played two dates there on April 8 and 14.

Iron Maiden rose from humble beginnings in London's gritty East End to become one of the most successful and influential bands of the new wave of British heavy metal. The band's singer for the first couple of albums was Paul 'The Beast' Di'Anno, this release explores the making of their self-titled debut album, released in 1981. Di'Anno, along with former members Dennis Stratton and Tony Moore, discuss their memories of working on the ground-breaking album.

Visions of the Beast was released by Iron Maiden on June 2, 2003 and contains every promotional video through 2001's Rock in Rio. It is basically an updated version of The First Ten Years: The Videos and From There to Eternity. It also includes never-before-seen Camp Chaos animated versions of six definitive Iron Maiden songs, interactive menus and discographies, and some special hidden extras.

Not many groups can claim to have started a whole musical genre, and certainly not one that has been as far reaching, influential and long-serving as The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. But had Iron Maiden not done what they did way back in 1976, a time when no one even knew there was an old wave, then we might never had have heard the likes of Metallica, Def Leppard or numerous other bands who were inspired enough by Maiden s independence, energy and craft to get up and form their own groups.
