Un groupe d'américains atterrit au Mexique pour un voyage éducatif organisé par le père O'Sullivan. Le programme prévoit non seulement la visite guidée des temples aztèques et mayas, mais aussi une découverte des rites sanguinaires apparemment reconstitués par les tribus d'Oaxaca. Comme pour un spectacle traditionnel, les touristes assistes à un festival baptisé "mort amusante", au cours duquel des personnages en costume sont censés pratiquer des exécutions factices. Mais peu à peu, les spectateurs s'aperçoivent que les scènes meurtrières sont plus vraies que nature et que leurs vies sont en danger, surtout quand le père O'Sullivan devient possédé...

Le lieutenant Mike Harrigan est un flic de Los Angeles. Lorsqu'une fusillade éclate entre des trafiquants de drogue mettant ainsi les rues de la ville à feu et à sang, Mike et son équipe se préparent à intervenir... Mais soudain, les gangsters sont liquidés un par un d'une horrible manière par une créature invisible. Commence alors pour Mike une enquête sanglante qui va le conforter à un monstre extraterrestre qui a pris la ville de Los Angeles pour terrain de chasse !

Beaten and weak, Laura is unable to speak, remember who she is, or even the fact that she is a vampire! As Laura attempts to make sense of the strange new world around her, she begins to remember not only an idyllic human life in 1897 but the handsome Lazarus (Carlos Antonio León), a mysterious lover who may not have had her best interests in mind. Soon Julian (Jason Contini), a world-weary vampire hunter employed by the church, begins tracking Laura, but as he closes in for the kill he learns that things are not what they seem.
