En 1943, le capitaine Cliff Brandon est un pilote d'avion cargo ravitaillement des troupes alliées combattant les Japonais en Chine. Quand il ne vole pas il est habitué a consommé de l'alcool dans le bar local.Une nuit, alors il trébuche ivre à la maison, il rencontre un vieil homme chinois qui lui offre une fille, sa fille Shu-Jen. Brandon lui paie, mais quand il voit la jeune femme, il demande au vieil homme à la garder. Quand il se réveille le lendemain matin, il trouve Shu-Jen là. Après le père Cairns, un résident de longue date de la Chine, exprime sa désapprobation, Brandon tente de son mieux pour se débarrasser d'elle, de confier la tâche à Ellington, un jeune garçon chinois qui parle bien l' anglais. Ellington essaie de la vendre à la prostitution, mais le père Cairns arrive a convaincre Shu-Jen de revenir avec Brandon.

In 1896 it is announced that the Olympic Games will be revived in Athens. A young shepherd, Spiridon Loues, decides to enter the 26-mile marathon. Once in Athens, he meets Christina Gratsos, a young woman from his hometown who is now the personal maid of Eleni Costa, Greece's most glamorous actress. Though he has arrived after the qualification date, Spiridon's athletic prowess so impresses Coach Graham of the American team that he is permitted to enter the contest. Eleni informs the press that she will marry the victor, confident it will be her lover, Lieutenant Vinardos.

The show aired on NBC Television from September 11, 1959, to April 10, 1960. Based on events at international construction sites, the program was directed by Robert Altman early in his career. It was the first TV series offered by United Artists. It starred Chet Allen as Slats, Roland "Bob" Harris as Jim, Bob Fortier as Scotty, and stunt actor Carey Loftin as Skinner. Forrest Compton also appeared in two episodes as Davis.
