Avant que Kazama Kimichika (Kimura Takuya) ne prenne son rôle d'instructeur à l'académie de police, il supervisait la formation des détectives débutants. Grâce à un système de formation appelé Kazama Dojo, de jeunes détectives inexpérimentés (Akaso Eiji, Aragaki Yui, Kitamura Takumi, Shiraishi Mai, Sometani Shota) seraient soudainement jumelés à Kazama et enseigneraient des compétences de détective à travers l'enquête sur des cas de meurtre réels. Les scènes de crime sont la salle de classe pour la formation en cours d'emploi. Kazama voit la vérité plus vite que quiconque. En exhortant les détectives juniors à penser par eux-mêmes, ils arrivent aux réponses et finissent par obtenir leur diplôme du Kazama Dojo un par un.
