Ils vivent ensemble depuis quinze ans, ont quatre enfants, se connaissent et se comprennent bien. Pourtant l'un et l'autre ont admis que leur couple est entamé et ils décident de divorcer. La crise, en fait, couve depuis longtemps et l'essentiel maintenant, pour lui comme pour elle, Rosa, est de réussir ce divorce comme ils avaient réussi leur mariage. Pour leur entourage le divorce ne se fera pas. C'est une attitude provisoire, pensent leurs amis, sauf les proches comme Gérard ou Marianne, l'amie complice de Philippe qui, eux, ont mesuré la gravité du mal. Les enfants sont plus discrets et cachent mieux leurs sentiments à l'exception peut-être de Julie, la plus jeune. Mais Rosa et Philippe feront tout pour dédramatiser leur séparation et la rendre possible à leurs enfants. Ils y réussiront, du moins le mieux qu'ils peuvent, jusqu'au moment où, en ce mois de février, Philippe quitte définitivement la maison.

This film explores the experiences of some of the members of an anti-Nazi resistance group in France composed mostly of Polish immigrants, known as "La Brigade." Many of them also fought for the leftist cause during the Spanish Civil War, and for them the resistance is simply a continuation of their prior activities. After the war, some of them continue to have a "resistance" mind-set. One of the stories concerns a love relationship between a Polish boy and a French girl who are thrown together because of their war efforts. After the war, they get together and reminisce.
