L'inspecteur Bodmer est chargé de suivre et de juger les prétendants à la nationalité suisse. Aidé de Fisher, son stagiaire, il étudie les cas de la famille Grimolli, du docteur Starke et sa femme, ainsi que celui d'une danseuse grâce à différentes questions et autres tests plus farfelus les uns que les autres.

Un cadavre découvert dans la zone frontalière entre la Suisse et la France contraint un commissaire bâlois à enquêter avec son homologue alsacien. On a trouvé un cadavre dans la cabane d'un jardin ouvrier de Bâle. Le défunt a été sauvagement assassiné : tué par balle, il a ensuite été suspendu à la poutre du cabanon par un crochet de boucher. Confiée au commissaire Hunkeler de Bâle, l'affaire se complique d'emblée : si la plupart des propriétaires des parcelles habitent en effet à Bâle, le terrain où le meurtre a été commis est rattaché à la France. Hunkeler va donc devoir collaborer avec un collègue français. Très vite, les soupçons se portent sur un certain Cattaneo, qui jardine aussi dans le secteur. Hunkeler découvre pourtant un détail qui l'intrigue : la victime, Livius, qui s'appelait autrefois Schmidt, semble avoir un passé trouble lié à la Seconde Guerre mondiale...

Walter Egli est un policier. Tous deux se voient confier une mission, celle de débusquer un réseau de résistants situé au Tessin, prêt à tout pour défendre le plurilinguisme helvétique.

A girl returns from a trip out of the country and is given a strip-search for drugs when she re-enters Switzerland. Throughout the same period, they often had to seek asylum in other countries. This movie concerns Sergei (Roger Jendly), a revolutionary who kills a student in Russia and flees to Switzerland. Though he has the gifts and abilities to unify various revolutionary groups within Russia, once he has been forced to flee, they have no interest in him. When his presence in Switzerland threatens a trade agreement with the Tsar, he is tracked down and expelled.

In the 1770s, Swiss farmer Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi established a school for poor orphaned children in the Aargau. Up to total exhaustion he sacrificed himself for his pedagogical theories. Five years later, the project of the idealistic educator failed after bloody attacks of the French. In retrospect, the disappointed Pestalozzi experiences the last few months with "his" children.
