A portrait of Melbourne in Spring '04 (September/October), a mosaic of different stories: an angel desires to be human; a young couple cope with long-distance relating; a novelist unexpectedly falls pregnant; a woman from London discovers Melbourne; and a disenfranchised man, with a gambling debt, becomes involved with an underworld gang.

Ali Alizadeh reads English translations of Rumi and Hafiz, as well as his own contemporary Sufi poems. Accompanying the poems, the film follows six characters on their individual journeys of disenchantment, awakening and bliss: a poet and dancer who are struggling with their art, and four lovesick individuals, engulfed in solitude and yearning.

From the Australian underground comes a dynamic gothic original. Z and X are vampires bound by love and driven by their lust for blood. Together they stalk their unsuspecting prey in the dark streets and back alleys of Melbourne, but tonight they aren't the only killers lurking in the shadows. A moody and atmospheric thriller, A NOCTURNE: NIGHT OF THE VAMPIRE is a sophisticated reworking of the vampire genre with film noir stylistics.
