Bosnie, 1997. Quatre jeunes femmes, deux vieilles dames,quatre fillettes, un vieil homme et un jeune garçon vivent à Slavno, un village dévasté par la guerre. Leurs familles ont été tuées et les corps n’ont jamais été retrouvés. À force de vivre en présence de leurs disparus, les femmes du village se sont créées un monde très particulier dans lequel ce qui n’est pas là est bien là. The main subject of the Bosnian folk tale “The Golden Apple and Nine Peacocks” is love between two young people. But it is not any kind of love, but the true one, pure in which both sides are ready for various renunciations and concessions, just to be with their loved one.

Sabina, a divorced mother of two small children, falls in love with an old friend from the Bosnian war. The two plan to marry, but things go terribly wrong.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1991. After the fall of the communists, Divko Buntić, who has lived in exile in Germany for the past twenty years, returns to the village where he grew up, intent on reclaiming ownership of his family home, driving a swanky Mercedes and accompanied by his young bride; by Bonny, his lucky black cat; and with pockets full of money.
