Hercule, jeune pêcheur provençal, hérite d'un grand journal quotidien parisien : L'Incorruptible. Le publicitaire Vasco, qui se fait nommer rédacteur en chef, tente d'utiliser ce journal pour monter des escroqueries. Aidé par sa secrétaire, Hercule parvient à se débarrasser de Vasco puis nomme un jeune journaliste intègre au poste de rédacteur en chef avant de regagner sa Provence natale.

Un speaker de Radio-Seine en voyage découvre une famille française sympathique, la famille Martin. Il a alors l'idée d'en faire à son insu le sujet d'une émission régulière. Ce sera l'émission de la Famille Duraton. Lorsqu'il découvre le pot-aux-roses, le père Martin, furieux, s'en vient à Paris se plaindre dans les studios de la radio. Cependant, il se montre sensible au prestige général de l'émission dont il est le héros : cela le console et l'encourage à continuer...

René Sabin, ingénieur de son état, déçu par l'échec de ses projets, abandonne son village du midi pour aller à Paris en compagnie d'autres amis. Dans la capitale, il se lie à des gens douteux, notamment Alex Krakow qui ne dédaigne pas les affaires louches. La guerre survient fort heureusement pour René. L'armistice le ramène au pays, loin des miasmes parisiens, et il retrouve avec joie la petite fiancée abandonnée autrefois.

Perrichon, a well-off self-satisfied bourgeois, goes on holiday with his wife and his pretty daughter Henriette. He is more or less willingly followed by two young men, Armand Desroches et Daniel Savary, who both have fallen in love with Henriette after meeting her at a ball. The Perrichons's vacation will be eventful with, among other misadventures, two accidents (one real, the other fake) and the threat of a duel.

Étienne, a very sensitive being, watches helplessly as his mother suffers from his father's infidelities. He tries to seduce his father's next conquest without his knowledge.

Having fallen madly in love with the daughter of a prison guard, Guignolet climbs the wall to free her. He falls into this prison yard where he ends up being a prisoner in the heart of the delicious daughter of the guard.

But a series of odd facts occur: Claude is knocked unconscious as he is busy opening the hiding place door; one of the heirs gets killed; and even more astounding, the dead man reappears and... asks his money back!
