Francisco Belard

A group of disillusioned youths in Lisbon are consumed by the promise of the “club”. Irreverent, alien, and playful, the film takes the audience on a trip through the underground of Portugal's capital city as its young characters get high and unleash their unpredictable energy on the streets.

Summer of 1982, a beach in the south of Portugal. Rui and his parents live closed in their worlds, blind to the failure that characterizes them as a family and condemns them to the malaise of survival. Rui will have school exams but he is only interested in music and in the exploration of imaginary worlds that he constantly sketches in drawings. Only Joana seems capable of pulling him out of his autism. The girl's vitality fascinates him.

Avril 1974. Deux journalistes de la radio sont envoyés au Portugal pour réaliser un reportage sur l’entraide suisse dans ce pays. Bob, technicien proche de la retraite, les accompagne à bord de son fidèle combi VW. Mais sur place, rien ne se passe comme prévu : la tension est à son comble entre Julie, la féministe, et Cauvin le reporter de guerre roublard. La bonne volonté de Pelé, le jeune traducteur portugais, n’y fait rien : la petite équipe déclare forfait. Mais le vent de l’Histoire pousse le Combi VW en plein coeur de la Révolution des Oeillets, obligeant cette équipe de Pieds nickelés à prendre part, et corps, à cette folle nuit du 24 avril 1974.
