En 1965, Esmeralda, Quasimodo, Phoebus, et tous les personnages du légendaire roman de Victor Hugo apparaissent sur la scène du Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris pour la première fois, sous la férule de Roland Petit. L'Orchestre et le Corps de Ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, les danseurs étoiles Stéphane Bullion et Amandine Albisson, dans les rôles de l'attachant Quasimodo et de la belle Esmeralda, ou encore Mathias Heymann dans celui du machiavélique Frollo, tous ces artistes interprètent les personnages hauts en couleur de cette pièce cultissime, dans les somptueux décors du peintre René Allio, et dans les costumes grandioses créés pour l'occasion par Yves Saint-Laurent.

Roland Petit effectue plongeon inédit dans le roman « À la recherche du temps perdu » de Marcel Proust. Il s’intéresse aux souvenirs du narrateur : un jeune homme hypersensible, né dans une famille bourgeoise à la fin du XIXe siècle, qui rêve de devenir écrivain. Cependant, les tentations mondaines le détournent longtemps de son objectif. Capté les 12, 15 et 19 mars 2007 au Palais Garnier de l'Opéra National de Paris.

The year 2019 marks the 350th year of existence of the Opéra de Paris, and the Opéra national is staging two exceptional shows at the Palais Garnier in the form of an inaugural gala. Under the direction of Dan Ettinger, the principal dancers, soloists, corps de ballet and orchestra of the Opéra national de Paris will perform extracts from famous ballets as well as some of the most popular opera arias. Soprano Sonya Yoncheva, tenor Bryan Hymel and baritone Ludovic Tézier are among the headliners. A magical experience!

In 2008, the Opéra national de Paris honored the legendary Jerome Robbins. Though the general public may remember him primarily for his staging and choreography of Bernstein’s West Side Story, Robbins was also a brilliant ballet choreographer. In this production, we discover three of his works of classical ballet—En sol, In the Night, and The Concert—paired with Benjamin Millepied’s Triade.
