This ballet by Patrice Bart, who worked as a Ballet master for the Opéra de Paris from 1987 to 2011, stages the young ballerina who posed for Degas's canvas and also for his sculpture The Little Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer, currently exhibited at the Orsay Museum.

Le décor de Sergei Prokofiev du conte de fées "Cendrillon" a été créé au Théâtre Bolchoï de Moscou en 1945. En 1986, Rudolf Noureev, alors directeur du ballet de l'Opéra de Paris, a chorégraphié à nouveau le ballet et transposé l'histoire dans un cinéma privé, avec des décors rappelant Fritz «Metropolis» de Lang. ARTE présente la performance de l'Opéra de Paris à partir du 31 décembre 2018.
