En 1910, Arrigo Frusta et l'opérateur Giovanni B. Vitrotti montent la caméra jusqu'aux 4000 mètres d'altitude de la chaîne du Mont Blanc pour réaliser trois courts métrages d'alpinisme pour la Società Anonima Ambrosio. Ils ont été les premiers en Italie à réaliser des documentaires en haute montagne. Dans ce premier film, un groupe de trois alpinistes, dont Arrigo Frusta, effectue une traversée d'alpinisme dans le massif du Mont Blanc. Le but du film n'est pas de montrer une ascension concrète, mais de montrer la beauté et la spectaculaire des paysages de haute montagne et la fascination de ceux qui s'aventurent à conquérir les hauts sommets. Les deux autres films de la série sont : 'De Courmayeur à Colle del Gigante' et 'Sulle dentate scintillanti'.
