Following five series of the highly acclaimed, double-Sony Award winning and Writers Guild Award winning Radio 4 comedy show Mark Steel's In Town, writer and stand-up comedian Mark Steel at last brings out a DVD, filmed this year on one of his hugely successful UK tours. Mark Steel has presented the BAFTA nominated Mark Steel Lectures for BBC Two, is a regular on BBC One's Have I Got News For You and Radio 4's News Quiz. He's written several acclaimed books, including: Reasons To Be Cheerful and What's Going On and he writes a weekly column for The Independent. Filmed in South London's Blackheath Halls in February 2014.

Par la suite, Dave découvre Cat, un humanoïde qui est également le descendant direct de son chat. Sa race a évolué en fondant au passage une religion dont les dogmes sont issus de ce que Dave avait autrefois dit à son chat ! Dave, Cat, Arnold et Holly font alors route en direction de la Terre afin de savoir ce qu'elle est devenue pendant tout ce temps.

The lectures were originally broadcast on BBC Radio 4 over three series between 1999 and 2002. Many of the arguments were illustrated by miniature sketches. These sketches featured Mark Steel, Martin Hyder, Mel Hudson, Carla Mendonça, Femi Elufowoju Junior and Debbie Isitt. The first series was subtitled "A series of lectures about Englishmen who changed the course of history", with the remaining two changing this to "A series of lectures about people with a passion". The first series was produced by Phil Clark; the others by Lucy Armitage. The lecture on Ludwig van Beethoven was nominated for a Sony Radio Comedy Award. The programme transferred to television in 2003, with an Open University series on BBC Four, which was later repeated on BBC Two.
