Mais Edward n'est pas le seul à être au courant de l'existence du magot. Le docteur Mandeville et sa soeur, ainsi que le notaire, sont à sa recherche depuis longtemps. Mandeville charge sa soeur de devenir amie avec Edward, mais également de tout faire pour l'effrayer, afin de disposer des lieux et de pouvoir continuer ses fouilles. Peu de temps après son installation, des phénomènes étranges se déroulent à l'intérieur du manoir. Edward se met à avoir des visions très réelles de la dernière semaine qu'a vécu Andrew Marr dans sa maison. Peu à peu, sa raison se met à vaciller...

L'histoire débute lorsque trois enfants (Drew, Jo et Roland) font le pari de rentrer dans un manoir réputé hanté. Une fois à l'intérieur, ils y trouvent un vieil orgue étrange. Jo, la fille du groupe, se met à jouer un morceau qui, sans le savoir, déclenche un mécanisme libérant de l'instrument un étrange génie, un peu clown, nommé Flabber. Reconnaissant envers ses libérateurs, il accepte de leur exaucer un vœu. Les trois enfants se révèlent être des fans du comic The Beetleborgs et demandent donc à Flabber qu'il les transforme en leurs héros préférés. Malheureusement, en transformant les jeunes gens en super-héros, il libère en même temps du comic les méchants, les Magniavores. Commence alors une bataille dans le monde réel.
