Franz Engi returns to his hometown after being away for 30 years. A lot of things have changed in that time. There are only few families with children left in the village and that is why the school is about to be closed down. Franz decides to save the school and teacher Eva's job in a very unusual way....

Turin, 1993. Agnese, architecte, est convoquée au foyer pour anciens combattants où réside son père malade. Le médecin des lieux a autorisé son hôte, Reuf, réfugié bosniaque, à assurer les gardes de nuit auprès du père d'Agnese. Mais le commandant qui dirige le foyer a surpris Reuf, qui est en situation irrégulière, et l'a fait incarcérer. Agnese, qui préférerait ne pas avoir affaire à des réfugiés, fait la connaissance de Reuf, et est impliquée dans une histoire qui finit par la mener en Bosnie. Au cours du voyage, elle commence à se remémorer son enfance, immédiatement après la seconde guerre mondiale. C'est donc la rencontre d'expériences issues de deux guerres différentes - la roue de l'Histoire tourne sur elle-même en imprimant sa trace.

Rolando Colla made his directorial debut with this Swiss-French-Italian period drama about a Breton woman who disguises herself as a man to join a ship's crew during the 18th century. Rebellious 24-year-old Anne Bruneau is abandoned at the altar by her fiancé Yann. Unaware that Yann was drunk and fell down a well, Anne reacts to his absence by cutting her hair, dressing like a man, and signing on with a ship captained by a dwarf. When Yann learns what happened, he begins running south to Marseilles to rejoin her. Aboard the ship, Anne's disguise is discovered by the captain and the ship's doctor. With an Arab, she jumps ship, hiding with hookers in Marseilles while still maintaining her disguise.
