A story of love and betrayal. One summer night, two friends, Ketill and Eyjólfur, are heading to an isolated farm in a taxi, in search for Herdís, former fiancé of Ketill. He has been abroad all winter and wants to know why she left him the day before his departure, last autumn. Reluctant to face her for fear of what he may find out, he is urged on by Eyjólfur. The course of events takes an unexpected direction.

Sigga and Didi are sisters who lost their mother when very young and were separated. Since then their lives have taken very different paths and their characters have come as different as black and white. When they meet in their twenties the pair take a run through Reykjavik, ripping off drug smugglers and dealers and partying while escaping from the thugs.

Islande. Un an auparavant a eu lieu une violente éruption du volcan sous-glaciaire " Katla ". Au coeur de la ville de Vik, la cité la plus proche, la glace commence à fondre. Les habitants évacuent la région. Les quelques personnes restantes parviennent à fournir le service communautaire nécessaire. La région semble de plus en plus apocalyptique. Des éléments mystérieux, enfouis et gelés dans le glacier depuis la préhistoire, commencent à émerger de la fonte des glaces et ont des conséquences catastrophiques...
