Camille a rejoint une mission catholique au Cambodge avec l’intention de rentrer dans les ordres. Chaque matin elle emprunte un chemin … Un jour, elle y rencontre un homme cambodgien, Sambath, dépositaire d’un secret. Un rituel de rencontre s’établit entre eux. Le chemin qui longe la rivière, traverse les ruines et se poursuit dans la jungle, devient alors une initiation à la vie, en ce qu’elle a de plus douloureux mais aussi de plus vibrant.
