A ship's captain keeps a tame gorilla as a pet. During a mutiny the captain is injured by a blow and the gorilla saves him by hiding him in a cave. As others try to get close things get heated.

In 'The Circus Kid', Buddy, an orphan who runs away from a a harsh orphanage, joins Cadwallader's Circus.

En 1936, le président Franklin Roosevelt confie à son ami Joseph E. Davies le poste d'ambassadeur des Etats-Unis en URSS. Le haut fonctionnaire doit évaluer la position de la région et transmettre à son président des informations capitales sur son état. Davies part pour la Russie avec sa femme Marjorie, sa fille Emlen et son fidèle Freddie. Au passage, il s'arrête à Hambourg, puis à Berlin, et constate le bellicisme expansionniste de l'Allemagne nazie. Arrivé à Moscou, il rencontre les dignitaires du régime et découvre peu à peu la situation de cette nation en pleine mutation...

In 1906 Sweden, Captain Lars Larson (Knute Erickson) goes on a sea voyage, leaving his wife (Marcella Daly) behind expecting their first child. Unbeknownst to him while he is at sea, a bitter rival kidnaps her and makes it look as though she left him willingly. When he returns and discovers their home abandoned, he all but goes mad with bitterness and rage, destroying their home. In the years that follow, Larson becomes a sadistic, drunken reprobate of the sea, working for smugglers carrying all kinds of illegal cargo, including drugs -- and human cargo.

A disgraced sea captain signs on as a crewman on a cargo ship. He discovers that the vessel is captained by the very man who stole his ship, a sadistic brute who also took the former captain's wife and daughter. The ship's crew is composed mostly of sailors who were shanghai'ed aboard and are kept in line by the brutal captain and his even more fearsome first mate. The captain and one of his fellow crewmen--who has fallen in love with the man's daughter, who now belongs to the brutal captain--try to unite the crew to end the brutal reign of the captain and his henchman. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment in 2007.
