Yusuf et son meilleur ami Memo sont élèves dans un pensionnat pour garçons kurdes, isolé dans les montagnes de l'Anatolie orientale. Lorsque Memo tombe mystérieusement malade, Yusuf est contraint de surmonter les obstacles bureaucratiques dressés par la direction autoritaire et répressive de l'école pour tenter d'aider son ami. Mais, au moment où les adultes comprennent enfin la gravité de l'état de Memo et essaient de l'emmener à l'hôpital, l'école a été ensevelie sous une tempête de neige. Coincés, dans l'impossibilité d'obtenir de l'aide, les enseignants et les élèves se rejettent la balle. Rancunes, sentiments de culpabilité et secrets cachés émergent, alors que le temps passe inexorablement et menace d'emporter Memo.
