A sa sortie de prison, le gangster Roy Earle est déjà sur un coup. Mais les acolytes qu'on lui impose sont des amateurs et Roy sent qu'il n'a plus sa place dans cette époque.

En 1941, l'ancien boxeur Robert Prewitt est affecté à une caserne basée à Honolulu où il est sollicité par le capitaine Holmes pour remonter sur le ring afin de défendre l'honneur de la garnison.
