Son oncle lui raconte alors que, lors de son dernier voyage dans la montagne avec deux amis, ils avaient trouvé dans une grotte trois pierres mystérieuses, qu'ils s'étaient ensuite partagées. Lotte devine que ce ne sont pas des cailloux ordinaires mais des pierres dotées de pouvoirs magiques et elle décide de les rassembler toutes trois pour résoudre le mystère. Ils partent alors sur les routes : ils iront au pays des rêves, traverseront un labyrinthe de pluie, sui-vis de près par les deux étrangers qui s'avèrent être des lapins venus de la Lune, bien décidés à retrouver eux aussi les fameuses pierres…
