30 décembre 2017. Deux ans avant les Jeux olympiques de Tokyo, en raison d'une révision de la Constitution, une force de défense nationale est créé au Japon et entreprends des opérations militaires. Un chien se perd dans une usine d'incinération, mais Tani ne l'y retrouve pas. Dans l'usine, Yanais décroche les décorations de Noël et les remplace par celles du Nouvel An. Gou, accro aux jeux de survie, vient à l'usine pendant la nuit pour jouer avec Ken, et Adachi les regarde pour tuer le temps. Tous partagent les mêmes problèmes : grossesse, adultère, problèmes familiaux et un ami mort à la guerre.

Yumi feels trapped in her routined life with her husband, after Yo, her daughter, married and moved out. Kazuko, Yumi's mother begins to sort her things as she senses her time is coming. Meanwhile, Yo is frustrated as she starts to recieve less job offers, struggling to cope with the reality against her expectations. The family will take the lead in the bridge's crossing ceremony with their secrets hidden deep within.
