Vibrant Chand (Preity Zinta) est une jeune mariée qui quitte sa maison à Ludhiana, au Punjab en Inde, pour Brampton, à Ontario, où son mari (Vansh Bhardwaj) Rocky et sa famille très traditionnelle attendent son arrivée. Tout est nouveau et inconnu de Chand, y compris le calme et timide Rocky qu'elle rencontre pour la première fois à son arrivée de l'aéroport Pearson. Chand approches sa nouvelle vie et nouvelle terre avec sérénité et grâce, et l'optimisme aux yeux comme espoir, sa première chute de neige est un petit miracle de la beauté, et le grondement des chutes du Niagara crée l'enthousiasme d'un nouveau commencement.Mais bientôt, l'optimisme se tourne vers l'isolement. The Resonance (Anunaad) focuses on the soul-tearing topic of bridal slavery occurring in some parts of India. The film opens in a sleepy rural area surrounded by tea gardens where girls dream of migrating to other parts of the country to escape the poverty and hopelessness in which their families are plunged. Lured by a nexus of brokers and human traffickers, they begin a journey from the lush green fields of Assam to the dry, foggy winter of Haryana, in Northern India, where they risk being trafficked as purchased brides and face a life of constant humiliation and violence at the hands of their husbands and their families.
