Kitagawa Reika, a news anchor at News Fact, keeps seeing strange visuals. One night, she loses consciousness, and when she wakes up, she finds herself tied to the bed at a hospital. The doctor won’t let her leave, and she is chased by a mysterious little girl. She has to escape and find out the truth behind this mystery.

The film begins in the present, with its heroine, Kaoru, a grown-up woman working as a real-estate agent, while helping out the folksy proprietor of a neighborhood fishing pond. There she meets a shy girl who needs her help baiting a hook and reminds her of herself in the fourth grade.

This drama portrays the nostalgia of "the good old days" and youthful hopes and dreams. Yuika Satonaka (Ueto) is a freshman in university who came to live in Tokyo to continue her studies. Sakazaki Iwane is a ronin who spends idle days in Edo. Until a few months ago, he was a promising son and successor to a powerful family in Bungo. He has came back to Edo, where he lived for a while for swordplay training with his two best friends, after a tragedy in the three's home domain—both of the two friends died, one of them killed by Iwane by command of the domain lord's chief retainer. Iwane left his home for Edo, leaving behind his fiancée, a sister of the friend he killed. Eventually, Iwane detects the conspiracy behind the deaths of the two friends and struggles to reform his domain.
