Jun 04, 2016Hinako et son mari Seiji, anciens propriétaires d'une boutique d'apothicaire chinoise, vivent discrètement dans un HLM vétuste de la banlieue d'Osaka. Voilà six mois à peine qu'il ont fermé leur commerce pour emménager dans le lieu. Les autres locataires de la résidence ne cache pas leur curiosité face à ce couple très poli mais qui semble vivre reclus. Un jour Seiji, qui s'est emporté pour une broutille, demande a Hinako de faire comme s'il était mort, et se cache sous le plancher. Hinako, impassible, continue d'aller a son travail à mi-temps. L'absence de Seiji ne fait qu'alimenter les commérages de ses voisins.

Oct 05, 2013Shizuru Tamai (Takako Tokiwa) lives in a small mountain town in rural Japan with her mother and grandmother. Her grandmother is partially unable to move, and Shizuru has to care for her with her mother, who tries to keep Shizuru shackled at every opportunity. Shizuru’s days are filled with endless monotony. She works as a receptionist at her former classmate’s hospital, and one day goes to buy picture books for the waiting room. It’s then that she recalls a book from her childhood ‘The Pierrot Prays to the Moon’. Wanting to read the book again, Shizuru finds it on an online auction site. Once it finally arrives and she begins to read it, a small slip of paper gently falls from its pages. On the paper are what appear to be instructions for a recipe. The recipe prompts Shizuru to contact Tobuse (Shosuke Tanihara), the man who sent her the book.

Going to school and seeing her female counselor. One day, after a long period of time, Junpei who is the brother of Mayuko’s father reappears, surprising the family. By a coincidence, Junpei also suffers from an obsessive-compulsive disorder, making him and Mayuko begin to share a strange relationship, both of them fighting to overcome their disorders. But one day, Junpei didn’t seem like himself.

She is not visiting because she feels anxious for her father, Ryohei, who has lost his will to live as a result of his wife's death. She has come back because she has decided to divorce her husband, Hiroyuki. However, when Yuriko returns home, a young lady who calls herself Imoto Sachie walks right into the house. Sachie says she will help in housework and everything else until the 49th day and this seems to have been at Otomi's request. Furthermore, she tells everyone in the household that it is Otomi's wish to have a big feast and not a Buddhist memorial service on her 49th day. At first, father and daughter are opposed to the idea, but when they learn of the existence of a recipe which Otomi had left behind, they gradually begin to think they can do it.
