Martillo, tells the story of Pablo’s sexual awakening, a student at a boys' school where Sister Edwin teaches discipline with an iron hand. At home, Pablo lives in a different world. His father is a plastic surgeon and shamelessly exposes him to his sexual world and that of his lover. His mother is dead and Albina, his nanny, takes care of him like a son. At thirteen, Pablo is confused. When he discovers Sister Edwin's secret, he will leave his innocence behind.

As Miguel forges a friendship with a pious but promiscuous drag queen, the fragments of the past gradually become illuminated in his mind, prompting him on a desperate quest to reclaim his identity and atone for the sins of his past.

Faced with his imminent death from AIDS, Colombian artist Lorenzo Jaramillo looks back on his life and work through the five senses.

It begins with the tragedy of Armero, during the course investigates the murder of a beautiful woman and on his way some people die in the end a killing and a cemetery. Emerson Roque Fierro, former policeman and private investigator shadowing, investigates the murder of "Golondrina", a beautiful young woman, occurred in a seedy hotel in downtown Bogota. Without knowing who it is, begins to understand their relationships with a motley gallery of men: a corrupt politician, connected to drug trafficking and paramilitary groups, a bullfighter cunning and good for nothing, a boxer fallen on hard times with a force so stupid as rare Lotero intellect and an insightful blind. And in the midst of this, the dark threads entangling power to everyone, and especially the poor Fierro.

A story as told by an aborted child who's now 14 years old, involving his mother, three teenagers (two twin brothers and their cousin) that make a love triangle, the twins' father and his new lover, a drug lord and his sidekicks, the drug lord's wife who doesn't know who's the father of her baby, a prostitute with bladder problems, a hit man (really a frustrated poet), and a huge missunderstanding
