Un jour qu'il s'est absenté, deux de ses collègues s'injectent le nutriment, avec des conséquences effroyables les conduisant progressivement à la mort par ce qui semble être l'acromégalie. L'un des deux meurt, tandis que l'autre attaque le professeur et lui injecte le produit avant de mourir. Pendant leur combat, une tarentule géante qui a elle aussi reçu une injection s'évade de sa cage. Dès lors, elle ne cesse de grandir, et s'en prend aussi bien au bétail qu'aux humains.

The live-action series initially featured Gerald Mohr as the episode narrator. Fred Foy served as both narrator and announcer of the radio series from 1948 to its finish and became announcer of the television version when story narration was dropped there. This was by far the highest-rated television program on the ABC network in the early 1950s and its first true "hit".
