A wife walks out on her husband. While he waits for her to return, the husband watches television, drives aimlessly around the city and writes letters to her. He meets her at a bar and gives her the letters in the hope that she will read them and come back to him. After a few days the wife returns. The man goes back to the bar and finds that his wife had left the letters there.

In 1973, Chile undergoes a coup d'etat. 30 years later, it appears that it was - alongside with all the coups in the southern cone - organised by the CIA in order to stop the possibility of having a communist block on its south.

With confidential and unpublished documentation, the film shows the background and behind-the-scenes of the coup in Chile that took place on September 11, 1973 - and General Pinochet's dictatorship, which lasted 17 years.

Après la bataille d’Alger, la France et son armée ont exporté, en véritables experts, les méthodes de lutte anti-subversive en Amérique latine et aux États-Unis dans les années 60. Après plus d’une année d’enquête en Argentine, au Chili, au Brésil, aux États-Unis et en France, la réalisatrice a recueilli, parfois sous couvert de caméra cachée, de conversations enregistrées, les témoignages exclusifs des principaux protagonistes. Du général Aussaresses à l'ancien ministre des Armées Pierre Messmer, en passant par le général Reynaldo Bignone (chef de la junte militaire en Argentine de 1982 à 1984), le général Albano Harguindéguy , le général Manuel Contreras, et les généraux John Johns et Carl Bernard, cette enquête nous livre une réalité occultée du pays des Droits de l'Homme.
