On a bright day loudspeakers blare out choral songs which blend with the marches played by brass bands. A light plane scatters leaflets. Everybody stretch out their hands to catch the falling pieces of paper and look up smiling. Several leaflets fly by the wall, which has a memorial plague, fixed on it: "Vaskata, an antifascist resister, died here in 1942."

The film is based on the conflict between the Monarch of Bulgaria -Tsar Boris III and general Vladimir Zaimov during the Second World War and discusses different understandings about heroism and self-sacrifice.

Chavdar gets a degree in geology. He wishes to pursue a scientific carrier, but his father decides that his son should practice his profession in a rich of mineral Rhodopa Mountain. Chavdar meets geologists and locals who love their profession and the region. Here he finds true love with Vanya, a girl born and raised in the mountain. She is a part time geologist student and dreams of finding new ore sources. Chavdar has to leave, and he bids farewell to his friends, certain that one day he will come back to continue his search.

Zhana and Toni meet on a crowded beach. She is hanging around bars; he is seeking amorous adventures. They spent the night together, then jump into Mercedes sport car and get into a breath-taking race. In the morning, they learn that a man has been run over during the night. A dark suspicion comes over them. They travel again the same road again. The resulting confessions strip their masks from them... Believing him to be guilty, Toni wants to turn him in. However, the real culprit is detected. They move on - but in different direction...

Bistra and Evgeny, first year university students, are in love and inseparable, but slowly with time Bistra becomes infatuated with Evgeny's dad, as she sees him as the embodiment of what her dream lover would be. Shocked and distressed at this revelation, Evgeny hits a pedestrian with his car. Bistra's the only one who can help him in court if she's willing to admit what they talked about before the crash.
