Julien, un jeune architecte, et Béatrice, sa collaboratrice et sa maîtresse, sont à Prague pour visiter un théâtre célèbre dont Julien veut s'inspirer pour un projet analogue en France. Sur la scène, une troupe répète " Les Amazones " de Kléist et Julien retrouve une ancienne amie a lui, Diane, qui fait ici fonction de décoratrice et de créatrice de costumes...
