Ici, malgré des moyens techniques résolument modernes, fi des effets spéciaux: les intrigues portent sur des thèmes sociaux et/ou psychologiques plus que sur du grand spectacle. Au travers de ses sept saisons, Au-delà du réel, l'aventure continue s'est appliquée à traduire, au plus près de l'esprit de la série des années 60, l'âme humaine, ses peurs, ses failles, ses zones d'ombres, ses excès, ses folies... On y retrouve une quantité impressionnante d'acteurs, de réalisateurs, de scénaristes, ayant prouvé ou prouvant encore au petit écran, leur talent.
