A man who was released from prison wanders around the Kanto region and gets involved with the local yakuza.

Nakadai est professeur d'anglais dans une école locale. Sa vie familiale est presque désastreuse, avec une femme idiote (mais séduisante), trois jeunes enfants, une école bruyante à proximité, contrôlée par un homme d'affaires corrompu qu'il déteste, et de fréquentes visites d'amis peu scrupuleux. Et le chat à la fourrure grise et aux yeux verts !

Un imprimeur, vivant seul avec sa femme, voit un jour sa maitresse débarquer avec leurs trois enfants adultérins. Les choses vont encore se compliquer lorsque la maitresse en question quittera les lieux en abandonnant ses enfants au couple…

The Akazas are a blue-collar family living in a working-class neighborhood of Tokyo. Older brother Inosuke is a carpenter who works for his father Shinobu's construction business. Younger sister Momoko is a truckdriver. Passions run high in the Akaza household and the two siblings are constantly bickering. One day, Momoko reveals she had a miscarriage but refuses to say who the father is.

Kenzo was behind bars for killing a gangster. Upon his release, he goes to live with his son, whose marriage is on the rocks. His 14-year-old granddaughter Tamako is ostracized when she discovers that her grandfather is a murderer. Kenzo soon helps defend Tamako from bullies at school. When Tamako stands up for herself, she comes to believe that she has inherited some of her grandfather’s great strength. Eventually, an associate of the man Kenzo killed comes looking for revenge, along with the dead man’s son.

The film is a series of vignettes from Taiji Tonoyama's life and film clips, interspersed with a dialogue to camera by Nobuko Otowa, addressing the camera as if she is addressing Tonoyama himself, recollecting events in his life. The film focuses on Tonoyama's alcohol dependence and his various sexual relationships, as well as his film work with Shindo.

The chronicles of the life of Minamoto no Yoshitsune (1159 - May 17th, 1189). He was a late Heian and early Kamakura general of the Minamoto clan of Japan. Yoshitsune was the ninth son of Minamoto no Yoshitomo. His older brother Minamoto no Yoritomo founded the Kamakura shogunate.
