Le film s'étend des années cinquante aux années soixante-dix et suit Humberto. De plus en plus, il est de plus en plus obsédé par de multiples projets de cuisine louche dans l'Amérique du Sud, menant à une décision définitive.

The plot deals with the developments in an old decadent village after a stranger arrives at the old train station, an event in itself. This stranger is a Brazilian musician who carries and plays his "oboe". The music from the oboe, the musician's instrument, will change the lives of everyone involved, and that small village itself will forever be changed by the sound of the oboe.

The revolution is over, but outlaws in the arid Chaco still harass the poor. An old woman reluctantly welcomes a lone gaucho.

He is a poor glass cleaner. She lives in Carrasco. One day at the crossroads something happens that can change their lives forever.
