The film tells the story of Fernando Quintero (Gustavo Camacho), revolutionary leader who, after the fall of the dictatorship of Marcos Perez Jimenez, ascends to power, betraying their ideals to become an accomplice of repression against whom he fought.

In the city of gold as they call it, Palenque, Jean, Rose and Machete find themselves immersed in a marginal world trying to survive with the opportunities that the city offers them, with the anguish of being deported, with the temptation of the easily earned money. They look for another El Dorado or return, broken by the environment, from where they came. Some flee, others die in this sordid environment. They are human beings, mostly Colombians, who live in Venezuelan society, whose culture they enrich, perverting or adopting.

An old man travels to the city in search of a book. After a long journey, he returns to his town empty-handed and resumes his strange routine.

Willi premieres his own reality show and the first guest is the famous telenovela actress, Elsy Ferrer.. It immediately captivates the public with absurd and hilarious situations inspired by the routines of the most celebrated hosts of Latin American television.

Le film dépeint le mandat du président vénézuélien Cipriano Castro, le titre est basé sur sa citation : "La plante insolente de l’étranger a profané le sol sacré de la patrie", sa réponse à la crise vénézuélienne de 1902-1903, lorsque les nations européennes ont bloqué les côtes vénézuéliennes après que Castro a refusé de payer les dettes et les dommages-intérêts étrangers.
