Le 25 mars 1996, le penseur et mécène allemand Jan Philipp Reemtsma est enlevé à son domicile. Ses ravisseurs réclament 20 millions de marks. Sollicité de toutes parts, Thomas tente de rectifier l’ouvrage. Mais il doit se rendre à l’évidence, il ne parviendra pas à terminer son chantier à temps pour l’inauguration. Et il lui faudrait reconnaître sa part de responsabilité et en tirer les conséquence.
