Sonny Rollins présente deux concerts intimes filmés dans les années 60 pour la télévision danoise à l'apogée de l'une de ses périodes les plus créatives. Rollins est rejoint par certains des sidemen les plus légendaires de l'histoire du jazz, à la basse Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, 19 ans, le maître de la batterie Alan Dawson et le pianiste Kenny Drew.

The Drum Waltzes explores the life and music of legendary drummer, activist Max Roach, his creative peaks, personal struggles and re-inventions from the Jim Crow to Civil Rights eras, from heady days of post-war jazz to hip hop and beyond.

Summer 2004. Location: Copenhagen. The city's old legendary jazz house, Montmartre, is reopening for the first time in more than 30 years. But only for a very short note (2 days). To mark today's occasion, some of the oldest veterans of jazz house come together, along with a handful of younger 'descendants', to take stock of their lives and deliver a life-affirming musical testament, in the form of a series of unique concerts in the old jazz house.
