Den nye lægen (English: The New Doctor) is a 1943 Norwegian drama film directed by Rasmus Breistein, starring Jon Lennart Mjøen. The film is based on a play by B.V. Holbæk-Hansen.

Widowed Klara James, which has a son Robert, is adored by Captain Frank, but he wants her married to a count, which ultimately is recognized as a spy.

The poor but skilled woodcutter Simen is conned by the rich Pikajord. Simen's answer is to reenact his own death through disappearance, and come back as a ghost. But then his attractive wife looks like a widow.

The sibling Beate (17) and Jens (12) have lost their parent in a train accident, and their remote family tries to get rid of the children to get hold of the land and properties.

In beautiful Telemark, a young boy grows up on a rich farm. To his fathers dislike, he wants to be a fiddle player, just like the son at the poorer neighboring farm. One day the father is found dead.

The Whalers (original title: Valfangare) is a filmed record of the final whaling expedition in the Arctic before the outbreak of WW2. Only partly a documentary, the film is able to accommodate a dramatic throughline, concerning the redemption of wastrelly millionaire's son Allan Blom (Allan Bohlin). Pressed into service on the expedition, Allan shows he's a true son of Scandanavia through his courageous actions on the high seas, and even wins the hand of heroine Sonja (Tutta Rolf) in the bargain. While the whaling scenes are both exciting and exhillarating, the sequence in which a whale carcass is stripped and gutted may not appeal to everyone in the audience. Originally filmed in 1939 in Swedish and Norwegian, The Whalers was helpfully fitted out with English subtitles for its 1942 American run.
