A woman's fiancé gets murdered shortly before their wedding and she starts investigating

From the point-of-view of the children, "Mother" tells the story of the most unappreciated, loving and giving mother, who would sacrifice her own life, and sometimes the life of others, for her loved ones. In the autumn of 1955, a family of five children is living in the Tohoku area. In order to take care of her paralysed husband, the mother has to sacrifice her five children by giving them away. The children has to suffer all the loneliness and hardships that this decision has brought them. 15 years have passed, all five of them have got married. Now, they come to understand that their mother's love for them was the greatest love of all.

Risako, a model, is poisoned at a fashion show. After Detective Kariya finds out that Onishi, the PR manager of the apparel maker sponsoring the show, was being blackmailed by Risako, Kariya interrogates him. While his lover, a model named Haruka, worries, the doubt regarding Onishi is cleared up. Several months later, a bride is killed by being burned alive inside a locked room.

Attorney Asabuki Riyako goes to wine store in Ginza and meets a friend from college, Matsuura Ayano. Matsuura is the CEO of a wine company. The next morning, Asabuki learns from the news that Matsuura's father has died in one of the rooms at the inn.
