Hua Heng is a poverty-stricken aspiring painter whose day job involves painting the ads that go up on the sides of buildings. He and his buddies hang out in a makeshift gym set up in an abandoned building where they train and practice kung fu. His girlfriend is Gao Xin, a bar maid who is in debt to loan sharks. Into their lives comes Jiaji, who happens upon Hua Heng in a street fight with local thugs who'd made fun of the painting he's carrying and decides to help him out.

This 1975 comedy is about two tricksters, one who is bad and will work for the highest bidder and the other who works always for good, a Robin Hood in China film.

Au début du 20ème siècle, les mers du sud de la Chine sont infestées de pirates qui pillent les bateaux portugais. Le plus populaire d'entre eux, Chang Pao-Tsai, voit son navire endommagé alors qu'il accoste près d'un village de pêcheurs. Le brigand justicier découvre alors que les habitants du coin se font racketter par Hua Erh-Tao un pirate sans morale et Chiang Yu-lun , un officier du gouvernement corrompu. Pendant ce temps, un autre homme de loi, l'intègre général Hu Yi enquête en espérant mettre Pao-Tsai et ses hommes derrière les barreaux.
