A sensitive writer from a small town faces spiritual crisis as he tries to make it as a Hollywood screenwriter. Charlie Pontus (Joseph Culp) wanders around Los Angeles torn between his efforts to sell a screenplay and find his next meal. His natural optimism keeps him afloat as he walks the tight-rope between his love for the beautiful, exotic Ylayali (Kathleen Luong) and his desperate connection to The Chief (Robert Culp), the Hollywood producer who has the power to give life or take it away. Stubbornly refusing to relinquish his principles, he sinks deeper and deeper into spiritual crisis, finally confronting God in a Jobian showdown.

A young man returns home on the threshold of the Lunar New Year and finds himself a stranger within his own family. The cold silence surrounding the disappearance of his younger sister forces him on a quest for answers. Through his search, we are given a glimpse of the family’s fragmented past. From their perilous escape from Vietnam, to their separation, to their struggle with marred relationships, the family continues to endure the tragedies of false expectations.

This story is divided in three chapters. 1) "The Visitor": The drifter writer Tran Thanh Loc arrives in an old house and is lodged by the gorgeous Hoa. Along the days, he falls in love for her and discloses the truth about the hostess. 2) "Only Child": Loc is sick, totally disconnected of the world, but his nurse Linh heals him. He writes the best-seller The Visitor about his relationship with Hoa and becomes a successful writer. He proposes and marries Linh, but when he decides to have a baby, Linh is haunted by her hidden obscure past. 3) "The Diviner": Linh's parents send the fraudulent diviner Lan to use her pretentious knowledge of Feng Shui to help Loc, and she sees ghost in the house. Her son and aspirant writer Bao does not believe on his mother until he finds a surprising secret about Loc.

Cette agence est composée de membres d'origines diverses et variées dont le but premier est de surveiller et d'éradiquer toutes les menaces d'origines terroristes ou autre. L'équipe est sous les ordres de John Kilmer, un agent spécial du FBI et est composée de Frankie Ellroy-Kilmer, membre de la CIA spécialiste en interrogatoire et profiler et ex-femme de John, de Mohamed dit "Mo" un ex-agent de la CIA, d'Anne Larkin une brillante scientifique, de Tim Vargas un ancien agent de la D.E.A et de Jelani, un génie en informatique qui se fait épauler par la jeune Holly Brodeen. L'Agence Matrix dispose des dernières technologies pour mener à bien leur mission et ne doivent de comptes à personne d'autre qu'au Colonel Roger Atkins, leur agent de liaison avec la Maison Blanche.

Une brigade de sauvetage du comté de Los Angeles (L.A. County Beach Patrol) menée par le lieutenant Mitch Buchannon et composée d'une dizaine de sauveteurs doit faire face chaque jour aux dangers de la plage de Malibu, tout en composant avec leur vie personnelle.

Pilote de l'US Navy, le lieutenant Harmon Rabb est rattaché au JAG (Juge-Avocat Général) à la suite d'un accident d'avion. Désormais avocat, il est chargé de gérer les conflits judiciaires internes à la Navy.
