En 1924, Chip Hardesty prend la direction d'une nouvelle équipe créée au sein du FBI pour débarasser la Louisiane du Ku Klux Klan. C'est la première fois que la Police Fédérale peut enquêter librement et triompher sans être le jouet des partis politiques. Durant les années suivantes, Chip accomplit de nombreuses missions à travers les USA, suivi dans ses déplacements par sa femme et ses trois enfants. Un premier groupe arrête nelson dans le Wisconsin, mais celui-ci tue un policier et prend la fuite. Un second groupe abat Dillinger à la sortie d'un cinéma de Chicago tandis qu'un troisième, dirigé par Chip liquide Floyd. Le FBI redouble d'activité et organise la chasse aux bandits de toutes sortes. Il devient bientôt la plus grande Police du monde...

Jeanne Dante stars as precocious 13-year-old Judy Widdell, a devoted fan of dime-novel detective stories. When a real murder occurs in the vicinity, Judy insists upon playing sleuth, dragging teenaged astronomer Tom Fenton (Kenneth Howell) into her Sherlock shenanigans.

Former radio singer Kay learns from her gossipy friends that her husband, Steve, has had an affair with chorus girl Crystal. Devastated, Kay tries to ignore the information, but when Crystal performs one of her musical numbers at a charity benefit, she breaks down and goes to Reno to file for divorce. However, when she hears that gold-digging Crystal is making Steve unhappy, Kay resolves to get her husband back. The Opposite Sex is a remake of the 1939 comedy The Women.

Follows the cases of a dedicated Los Angeles police detective, Sergeant Joe Friday, and his partners. The show takes its name from the police term "dragnet", meaning a system of coordinated measures for apprehending criminals or suspects.

Elizabeth and Alvin are a married couple who live an ordinary suburban life, but inevitably managed to get into predicaments. At the end of most predicaments, Alvin, in variable degrees of frustration, would say, "I shall leave you now, Elizabeth" and would walk out of sight. The announcer would say, "Elizabeth, aren't you ashamed?" She would slowly nod, but then, with a slightly devilish grin, would vigorously shake her head to indicate she wasn't.
